Save the Cat!® beat sheet

Blake Snyder developed the ‘Save the Cat!©’ method for writing screenplays. This defines the key ‘beats’ or plot points and when they should occur in the story. It’s called ‘Save the Cat’ because Blake noticed many films had an early scene where the hero performs an act of kindness; if the hero saves a cat (or similar gesture) we are drawn to like them.
